After suffering four months of lockdown and missing holidays in South Africa and Poland we are finally escaping by moving our "bubble" from home to a canal boat in Autherley Junction near Wolverhampton.
The plan for the four weeks is to chug up through the Potteries (Stafford, Stone, Stoke & Macclesfield) an area we know quite well as John worked in Stone for five years in the 1980's. Eventually we will hope to reach Manchester, a city we hardly know anything about before heading back south via the Shropshire Union Canal, a total distance of 181 miles.
If time permits we may have an excursion to Chester or Llangollen. Most holiday makers seem to do the ring in two weeks but we don't like rushing and do intend to spend a few days in Manchester so we are not in any hurry.
We will aim to update the blog each evening, if any of you reading this fancy a day on the canal then you can see where we are heading for, give us a call and we can meet up. The boat is 48ft long so if you stay at the front whilst we are at the back with the beer and wine we can maintain social distancing and shout at each other in the rain.
