A wet day in Manchester – now there’s a surprise. We had a day off from boating and went into the city to wander round the shops. When I saw the sign above which in 4ft high letters told me the Science Museum was open I had great expectations of a day boring Gill sensless. Guess what - it might say it is open but in small print on the door it says "Closed due to Corona Virus".
Whilst museums might have decided they are unsafe but all the shops are open as usual.
Some time ago, after their share price crashed, I bought quite a lot of Metro Bank shares, I have never been in one of their banks but as it was raining we stuck our heads in the door and a very nice lady gave us a tour, we even went in the strong room!
She took my word for it that I was a shareholder but the visit reaffirmed my view that they are a good bank, let's hope they can make money out of it so the shares go back up.
After walking round the shops and Gill buying some shoes we had a traditional Manchester lunch – a Chinese in Chinatown which was very nice, especially the crispy duck.
Tomorrow we head off west along the Bridgewater canal towards Warrington.
