We are now on our way home. On our last night of the holiday we had dinner in the same restaurant we went to for my birthday where you have to decide what you want when you book. The food is really good, Checkers standard (Michelin Star), and half the price.
This morning we had our seventh walk along the beach this week, what an exciting life we lead, and then sat down to a very long lunch in the restaurant of quite a swanky hotel right on the beach, our excuse was we would not be able to eat again until we got home at midnight. Like everywhere else in Essaouira the food was really good, the service was friendly and of course the sun was shining.
Confession time: As you can see I have broken my “No mobile phones in restaurants rule” when taking the attached pictures but my mitigation is that it was before we had ordered any food and it was not at the expense of ignoring anyone else.
So what did we think of Essaouira?
We like Morocco, it is culturally very different from home (or most of Europe), it is good value (probably half the cost of holidays at home) everything works and as long as you avoid the tourist traps of Marrakesh, Agadir and Fez there is no hassle.
This is our fifth visit to Morocco and previously we have always hired a car and gone exploring, this time we did nothing but still enjoyed ourselves, in truth there is little to do in Essaouira unless you are into kite surfing which is much too adventurous for old people like us.
So that is the second holiday of 2020 over, only 10 more to go?
