Greetings from a sunny but windy Liverpool. I had forgotten how windy it always seems to be here, I used to visit quite often in the late 1980's and stay in the Adelphi hotel right in the centre and walk 10 minutes to the telephone exchange and always got blown about.
The city is much improved since then, lots of pedestrian areas and al fresco dining (but don't order lettuce it will be off down the street) and quite a nice vibe in the area we are staying (the Ropewalks district) and even better the hotel is heavily discounted on account of the pandemic.
We arrived at lunchtime, had a pleasent lunch watching the world go by before tackling our first art gallery of the week, the Tate. The current restrictions mean you have to pre-book everywhere and we were much too early for out timed entrance so had to stop for a drink, I suspect this will be a theme of this week and our bladders might take a pounding.
Anyhow the Tate was great, some favorites below.
There were a number of colourful paintings by Aliza Nisenbaum of people working in Alder Hey Childrens hospital during the pandemic
Carrot, stick and an African, this tickled me
The great thing about the covid restrictions is you don't get any crowds,
