Saturday 17th - More of the same

I did not do a blog entry yesterday because we have done much the same as before. Another walk round St Mary’s yesterday discovering yet another burial chamber a few more standing stones and civil war defences which had graffiti scratched in the stone from both the Napoleonic war and WW1.

Today we did another island (St Martins) which had by far the best beaches and as the temperature was in the mid 20’s it felt like the Caribbean.  Last week we got soaked on the open decked ferry across to Tresco, today the only concern was sunburn.

There is just one pub on the island, and just like St Agnes it is really good. Sometimes iconic or "must visit" pubs are a disappointment or are ruined by bad owners (the Old Forge in Knoydart springs to mind) but both the island pubs have been great.

The Seven Stones is pictured below along with the view from the garden.

Peter (Gills brother) and Jane arrived yesterday and were disappointed to find Wally had disappeared.  He was sighted on another island but this afternoon he was back on his custom made raft.

We intend to do nothing tomorrow and on Monday we are going back to Tresco to visit a fort and then have another expensive lunch on the beach - life is hell as I am sure you all appreciate.
