I was overconfident about our journey home as all the papers were saying this weekend every family in Britain would be heading for Devon and Cornwall, we were going in the other direction so no problem.
Google maps said we would be home in 5 hours, it took us 8 hours of very slow going, I was not happy by the time we finally got home.
First job - go to the Co-op for milk. Before we left for our holiday you had to wait outside the shop until someone came out or you were called in. I and another chap were patiently waiting outside when a lady breezed passed and said "you don't have to do that anymore!"
The reason we came home on Saturday was to support Party in the Park, a music event held in the park behind our house whose aim is to help young musicians.
We managed to get into the park in time to hear the Stone Jets, a really good trio from South Africa, then our favourite local band Fight the Bear and finally the Mighty Vipers a great 9 piece band with an excellent brass section.
No masks were worn, social distancing seemed to be forgotten, if Bishop's Castle's covid infection rate goes up next week we will know why but it was great to be listening to live music once again and the bands were on a real high as it was their first festival in 16 months.
A wonderful end to a very good holiday and in no time we had forgotten the horrid journey.
