We have had plenty of boating holidays in the past and have always had the Canal du Midi on our list of trips to do, the sunshine, fine food and wine are the attraction rather than rain, poor food and warm beer which is the norm in England.

We had a couple of days in Montpellier and then picked up the boat in Le Somail before heading up the canal towards Toulouse. We have four weeks to explore the whole area shown above, will it meet our expectations - read on to find out
