Day 14 - The End of the Holiday

As reported yesterday we moored last night outside a pub where we had dinner. We were a little concerned that it might be noisy later on but by 9.30 almost all the customers had left, how times have changed, pubs used to get busier as the night wore on.

We motored back to Bradford on Avon today where I managed to turn the boat round with 50 tourists watching without too much trouble, I am starting to get the hang of the boating malarkey, shame the boat goes back tomorrow.

We then had an enjoyable couple of hours walking round Bradford on Avon, we have driven through the town a few times and not stopped, we should have, it has a very impressive 14th century tithe barn, a Saxon Church which was very tall and narrow and some nice 16th and 17th century houses one of which has an Italian restaurant that we will sample tonight.

We take the boat back tomorrow morning and head off home. It has been a good two week break, the canal was not as crowded as we expected it to be, it only rained once and if anything it was a little too hot. The climb up and down the locks at Devizes was good fun and not as difficult as we were led to believe by the regular canal boatees.
