John's 2024 Blog

Last year when I had eight, two week rounds of chemotherapy, we discovered that the first week would be filled with blood tests, visits to hospital and the local community nurse but the following week would be clear leaving us to have many short holidays. We managed enjoyable breaks in Scotland, Yorkshire, Suffolk, Somerset, Oxfordshire, St Davids and Portmeirion.

I am now set to have twelve rounds of chemotherapy over the course of six months but we intend to get out and about a little. I will probably update this blog at weekly intervals but hopefully it will give you a clue as to what we are doing, where we are and how the treatment is going.  Debrett’s etiquette guide now says you should text someone before calling them so perhaps this blog is smoothing the path before a call.

So the first outing was a return visit to Oxford. Last year whilst staying in an Oxfordshire country house hotel we spent a couple of days in the city and decided we would like to return as we did not manage to do all the sights. What exciting things did we get up to?  All is revealed on the next page. Subsequent entries are indexed below
