Imagine you are a canal boat owner, for the past three months you have been unable to take your boat out for a spin and have sulked at home dreaming of sunny days on the waterways of Britain. Then Boris says you can go out on your boat but being of a nervous disposition you and your family decide to leave it a week.
The next weekend the weather forecast is a bit iffy but by the 18th you are desperate to get out and the weather forecast is good. By Sunday this was the perfect storm, every man and his dog was out in his boat and we spent three hours reading the Sunday papers whilst stuck in queues for the locks.
Hopefully they will all be back home on Monday and we can have the canal to ourselves again.
We are now setting off along the Llangollen Canal, it is far more rural and a little flat which is fine as there are fewer locks.
