We have been trying to decide if we should put a painting on the side of Pound Cottage and to get inspiration we have come to the graffiti capital of the world! Valparaiso, a very hilly city with a bit of a vibe to it. Apparently the graffiti was started as a political protest against the military junta but since the return of democracy it has become mainstream and there are organised sight seeing tours. We did not go on an organised tour (being mean buggers) but we did take over 100 pictures of the art this morning.
Below is a taster, some of you may be inflicted with all of them on our return.

The other unusual feature of the city are the "ascensors", little funicular lifts which connect the hilltops with the city, we tried five of them this morning, they all date from around 1900 and are a bit rickety but great fun, they are used by locals as much as tourists.
We had hoped to stay for a third night but being the weekend the hotel is full, probably weekenders from Santiago which is only 80 miles away so we will move a little further up the coast tomorrow.
