Another sunny day in Cyprus, it poured last night but I am pleased to say we have had another dry day. We had planned to go to South Africa about now so I could watch the cricket, fortunately we postponed the SA adventure to May as yesterday it was raining in Port Elizabeth and the players had to go off for rain.

Today we visited the Tombs of the Kings, a necropolis used by the upper class citizens (rather than kings) of Paphos in the 3rd and 4th centuries BC. It is a huge site with 1000’s of chambers and it was most enjoyable wandering round peering into lots of nooks and crannies expecting to find treasure under every stone.

We didn’t of course, most of the graves were plundered a long time ago but it was great fun all the same. In fact in the middle ages people used to live in the tombs.

After that we drove over the hills to Polis where we had a walk round and a small orthodox Greek church where I took the picture of icons at the top of the page.

Tomorrow we head up into the mountains to a ski resort (no this is not a misprint), don’t know if there is any snow at the moment but it was very difficult to book any accommodation so I guess it is peak season up there.
