As advertised yesterday we are now up in the mountains where there is quite a bit of snow. We did see drivers fitting snow chains on their cars but this is a bit over the top, our little front wheel drive Kia had no difficulty getting to the top of Mount Olympos so we could take photographs of the military installations (at 6300ft).
For the first three nights we stayed in a smashing hotel in Pathos “old” town the only downside was that the dustmen collected the bins at 3.30am and at 6am a man was cleaning the square outside with a petrol leaf blower!
For our next few days we had great difficulty finding any accommodation up here in the mountains and were disappointed only to be able book for one night. A lucky escape – the hotel is not great, a bit cold and the restaurant is closed so we have to walk half a mile into town for dinner.
We did manage a very pleasant walk to some waterfalls this afternoon and tomorrow, weather permitting, will have another walk in the mountains before dropping down to Lemesos (used to be Limassol when I did geography at school).
