Today we did an excellent walk called the Kaledonia Trail about three and a half miles up hill from the village of Platres to another, very touristy village, called Troodos through some lovely forest passing two spectacular waterfalls. We then had a very nice lunch and walked back again despite signs and red tape indicating that the path was dangerous due to erosion and landslides, we do like to live dangerously! We had similar problems in La Palma a little while ago, I think the EU must have issued a directive that unless a path is flat and has hand rails it should be closed for safety reasons.

The disappointing thing was at no point was the path in any way dangerous, the biggest risk was sliding on the icy road at the end of the walk but there were no warning signs about that of course.

We are now renting a very nice apartment in Limassol just off the sea front and will walk into town in a minute for dinner. Being popular with British Tourists we should be able to drink pints of John Smiths whilst eating beefburgers.

When we were in Pathos we ate in our hotel on two nights, they did a wonderful steak, almost raw and exceptionally tender. It comes from Ireland, we presume flown in, and whilst it cost 30€ we could not resist a second visit.

They even had my favourite wine (Nemea from the Peloponnese) and as Gill is having a dry January I was forced to drink the whole bottle on both occasions, the sacrifices I have to make!

Tomorrow we will explore Limassol, in the sunshine hopefully.
