Skiathos is famous for it’s beaches so today we thought we should go with the flow. There is a bus service which leaves Skiathos town every fifteen minutes passing all the commercialised resorts down the island so we bought our tickets and off we went to the furthest point about four miles down the island.
This was one of the largest beaches (picture at the bottom) which was full of happy Greeks spending their Sunday morning in the sunshine.
We had noticed another, smaller beach a few stops back so after the compulsory morning frappés we caught the bus to a much more upmarket beach which only had tourists, a very nice bar and some excellent food.
It was a very pleasant way to spend the day, nice sandy beach, cold beer, good food the only blot was the strong wind which is a feature of the Aegean.
We then caught a water taxi back to the big city.
Tomorrow we catch the ferry over to Alonnosis, we might not update the blog for a couple of days as I don’t suppose we will have much to report unless of course our plans go wrong.
