Hawkesbury Junction to Atherstone  - 12 Miles and 5 locks

Another sunny day but as you can see from Gills atire it is cold, definately woolly hats and gloves weather.

In the evenings, with the current covid restrictions of having to eat outside, we have dinner at the strange time of 5pm, before it gets too cold. One other problem with eating outside, if the waiters use iPads to take the orders they can’t see them in sunshine and have to move back and forth into the shade to see what they are typing in. The better pubs use pens and paper.

This mornings target was Nuneaton, a nicer place than Rugby although nothing very special. All the spaces in the outside coffee shops were taken but we did manage to buy some scallops for lunch which were very tasty with a nice glass or two of Muscadet.

Whilst going through Atherstone locks in the afternoon a 20 year old girl walked past with very short shorts, peculiar lacy tights and a good percentage of her bum hanging out, not a particulary pleasant sight. A few minutes later a carer with two patients walked past, one, a 40 year old man dropped his trousers giving Gill a full frontal, very odd these Midlands folk, I think I will carefully lock the doors on the boat tonight.

Tomorrow we start the day with 6 locks and then plain sailing to somewhere near Tamworth, home of the Reliant Robin if I remember rightly, I can't wait.
