On Saturday and Sunday nights we stayed in a motel the wrong side of a motorway. It was the only place in Antigonish which had a room so that is where we had to stay.
We drove into town on Sunday, had quite a nice dinner and then returned to the motel bar. As there was no barperson the receptionist said she would serve us but she had no idea about wine and asked me to open the bottle. She then found two large glasses and filled them up charging us $8 a glass. I noticed that we had almost emptied the bottle so it was good value. We then sat outside with a fine view of the motorway – I do know how to treat a girl.
The banner picture shows the beach at Inverness, for some reason the water is very warm (20c today), a little warmer than the air temperature which today was a barmy 19c (I understand it is in the 30's at home).
I mentioned in the preamble about Nova Scotia that we hoped there would be no midges, bagpipes or rain. Well we have had rain, at one stop off point we were almost knocked over by the midges trying to get our blood but so far it has been bagpipe free.
Next to our hotel in Cheticamp there was quite an attractive blond girl reading a book in the sunshine. She was outside a premises signposted as Lolas Hookers, things were looking up until I discovered the local industry is hand made rugs made with hooks. In the gallery there was one for sale, 4ft by 2ft, $3.450. Mrs Lucas will not be buying any to bring home.
