Last night we stayed in a hotel on Granville Island which used to be an industrial waste land but has now been gentrified and is the trendy/arty place to be - right up our street. It is in the centre of Vancouver and is not a proper island, just a peninsular in one of the many inlets which surround the city. The only industry left on the island is the cement works but they have entered into the spirit of the place by painting their silos and decorating all their trucks with different designs.
We have noticed that WiFi is not promised on the train we are on for the next four days so unless we pick up a signal somewhere you will be spared blog updates until Tuesday by which time the Queen will be buried and life will have returned to normal.
