Our Last Day

The other night we had dinner in a very nice restaurant on the quayside. The only snag was that it was next to a flash boat (130ft long £8 million jobby in the middle of the picture above) which had a very loud but awful singer/guitarist who was “entertaining” the guests.
Whilst the boat is big it is not big enough to avoid the music, you would think someone that rich could afford some decent entertainment unless the owner (an Irish multi millionaire) was organising some sort of endurance test.  The music was so loud it spoilt dinner for all the customers like us in the smart restaurants close by.

This morning the weather was again a bit iffy so instead of hiring electric bikes we took the cowards way out and hired a car. Mind you the car was cheaper than two electric bikes and you don’t have to pedal.

As it turned out the weather improved after 11am so a cycling day would have been fine.

We drove down to the border with Montenegro just to say we had been to the tip of Croatia. On the way we visited a beach which we were told was “incredible”. We naively thought that this meant lovely sand, a nice bar and the beautiful people cavorting around without many clothes in the sea. What was meant by incredible was “who on earth would build a path down there!” Not surprisingly there was no one on the beach when we had climbed down.

The other highlight of the day was visiting a castle high up on the hillside bordering Bosnia, there were plenty of steps to climb up onto the ramparts, I don’t think we have ever climbed as many steps in a month that we have in the past week.

Regrettably today was our last full day, tomorrow we are off to the airport and should be home in time to catch Barnets result, perhaps it would be better to stay here.
