Dubrovnik Part 2

The plan today was to go for a ride through the countryside passing, and perhaps stopping, in a few vineyards. The sun was shining but there was a snag. A 40mph wind, not great for cycling so we abandoned that idea and caught the bus into Dubrovnik in order to do the city walls.

They are a “must do” when in the city and very good they are too, it took us just over 2 hours to walk round and we took over 250 photographs, that will take some sorting when we get home.

When we hired a car a few days ago we drove up the hill above Dubrovnik in order to take some aerial views of the city as well as visiting a fort from which the Croatian defenders fought off the Serbs during the 1991 siege.

It houses a museum with an account of the fighting. The map shows where shells landed, each dot represents a hit, most of the roofs in the city are new on account of the damage.
Below are a couple of before and after pictures.

Tomorrow we might go cycling!
