A few days ago we were looking for somewhere for a break and realised we had not been to Greece for over a year so searched for holidays with good flight times to Greek islands which have not been previously blessed with a Lucas visit.
The answer was Kefalonia which apparently is famous for Captain Corelli's mandolin (have read the book, not seen the film), lets hope it comes up to expectations.
It is one of the Ionian islands (others are Corfu, Lefkada (which we visited in 2020) and Zante. They are west of the mainland of Greece and popular with British holidaymakers so there are plenty of cheap flights.
We are staying in a small hotel in the south of the island for 10 days and I am pleased to say will miss all the over the top coverage of the coronation.
It was nice and warm and sunny when we left Birmingham, it was cold and wet on arrival in Kefalonia but the forecast from tomorrow is good, I do hope it is right.
