You will be pleased to know it has rained every day so far!
For about 2 minutes twice a day, this happens throughout the Caribbean, of course the rain is warm. Just stand under the nearest tree and chat to anyone else sheltering with you and two minutes later it is dry and you can all go on your way. It is an excellent way to meet others, no one discusses the weather.
We are now settling into life on the beach. Our bay (Dickensons) has a huge Sandals resort which dominates the beach with a few small establishments either side. Sandals is “all inclusive” so the inmates don’t mix with the rest of us in the two or three restaurants on the beach which suits us fine.
I did look up Sandals web site, to stay at this resort the "official" rate is US$13,000 a week for a couple but they will knock off 60% so just under $5,000. They always advertise huge discounts in the Sunday Times, who are they trying to kid?
Even with 60% I am not tempted, we will stick with our little resort which has 16 apartments (ours is the upstairs one in the picture above) arranged round a nice garden with humming birds and colourful sparrow sized birds which seem to appreciate crumbs from our breakfasts.
The biggest problem is the TV, it shows the test match live from Australia and we are doing very badly.
It is probably a 50 yard walk from our apartment to the beach and 60 yards to quite a smart restaurant / bar (picture above) whose services we are making good use of.
The beach itself consists of fine white sand as do all the other beaches we have visited so far and of course the sea is a lovely turquoise and warm. Being at the north of the island the sea is the Atlantic so there are a few waves.
I could not resist taking a picture of the telephone box, it would make a good cover for a book on the history of the telephone - what a great idea.
