We have now settled into a routine. Before breakfast we walk half a mile up the beach past the Sandals resort and then back again, just like our daily walk round the block in Bishop's Castle we meet the same people every day. As you can see from the picture not many Sandals inmates risk venturing out onto the beach.
Once breakfast is out of the way we head off to explore another part of the island, we are careful not to do too much otherwise there will be nothing left for the rest of the holiday.
The afternoon is spent on “our” beach, that is the section by our apartment which has sun loungers for guest use. One or two dips in the sea in between reading, all very stressful.
There are two quite good restaurants on the beach near us so at 8pm after a G&T or rum and coke at home we go out for dinner, we did try an Italian restaurant a little further away (we drove there and walked back) but came to the conclusion it was too much hassle so will probably eat local for the rest of our stay in Dickenson Bay.
We won't be trying kite surfing, the chap in the picture is so relaxed he only uses one hand and of course never gets wet!
Those of you with good memories may remember us talking about the Talisker Transatlantic Rowing Challenge which starts in La Gomera where we were this time last year. The picture shows Gill waving a boat off.
The 2021 Challenge has just started and they are heading our way. If the fastest boat is close to the record crossing of 29 days they will arrive on our last day on the island so we will watch the race progress with interest.
I mentioned it last year but if you have not seen it watch Four Mums in a Boat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwVrYWHjqLI&feature=emb_rel_end), a story of four quite well off women who decided to take part in the race, they must have been mad!
We might visit the big city tomorrow, a full report might take a day or two to be written, nothing in Antigua is done in a hurry.
