I booked the most amazing house up in the hills 2 miles along a narrow farm track, it has several sitting rooms, six bedrooms and all sorts of modern architectural features like steel staircases and a bridge. It is where the rest of the family stayed for the weekend.
In the garden is a small “play” barn with a large hot tub. These are normally hated by neighbours when they are installed in holiday homes but here it is not a problem, the nearest neighbours are miles away.
Gill and I return each night to the peace and quiet of our hotel leaving tired grandchildren to their parents to manage.
On Saturday we all attacked Skipton Castle which is ideal for children, lots of rooms to rush in and out of and as most were roofed it provided shelter between showers.
After a family Sunday lunch they all returned home and Gill and I took over the house for the rest of the week, we can sleep in a different room every night.
