Greetings from our nearly private island of Trizonia in the Gulf of Corinth. One story is that Aristotle Onassis first thought of buying this island before he ended up buying Skorpios. Perhaps he had problems with the mozzies as well, just think, having all that money and he still gets bitten.
The island has a laid back vibe, the biggest excitement is when the ferry comes in and deposits three or four passengers and a few boxes of shopping for the tavernas (pictured). Some of the farmers have trucks, we have only seen one moving, I doubt if it ever gets into third gear and two golf buggies seem to operate a taxi service. There seems to be a community spirit, for WiFi you just pick up the network with the strongest signal, none of them has a password.
Last night at 2.30 we were awoken by an enormous thunder clap, the heavens opened and it poured with rain. Regrettably I had left my shirts out to dry on the balcony and I had to push Gill outside to rescue them before they got blown away (they were already rain soaked).
This morning we did two of the three recommended walks on the island, we had completed both by 11.30 so spent the afternoon sitting in the sunshine reading. As usual there are a great many cats but we realised we had not seen a dog, a local confirmed there are no dogs on the island!
We have now booked ourselves an apartment in Vasiliki on Lefkada island, it is the village we thought was nice when we visited on day three of the holiday, lets hope it lives up to our expectations.
