We are a bit new to this Air BnB malarkey and perhaps naively assume that everying works properly. This morning we discovered that the kitchen sink had no hot water or a plug, not great.
Email to the landlady who says there is no hot water in the kitchen or a plug! How is Gill supposed to do the washing up?
The specification of the cottage mentions WiFi, a washing machine, cooker etc but does not mention hot water in the kitchen, we just assume there is some (in the bathroom it is fine).
It is a shame as the cottage is in a great spot (pictures above and left) and in all other respects it is fine and has a nice roof terrace.
This morning we drove up to the Las Nieves nature park which is a sub tropical rainforest full of very tall trees and laurels. Unlike the south of the island it is very lush and humid.
The aim was to repeat a walk I did with the old boys called El Canal Los Tilos which involves being taken by 4x4 vehicle up to the start of the walk and then walking alongside a narrow watercourse around the side of the mountain. It goes through 15 tunnels and has a shear drop on one side but it is great fun and of course on the level (very slightly down hill) for 9 miles. The picture shows some elderly gentlemen doing the walk in 2018.
We were fully prepared with torches (the tunnels are dark), woolly hats (to protect our heads when we bang them on the tunnel roofs) and waterproofs as many of the tunnels are wet, only to discover the path is closed due to a rockfall. To reckless adventurers like us this would not be a problem but of course the 4x4 taxi’s were not running so we could not do the walk, instead we trudged up a long steep path for an hour to a viewpoint and then trudged back again.
Still the scenery is good and we were back in time for a lazy lunch of bread, cheese and cold meat washed down with a bottle of local wine on our terrace so life is not too bad.
