Thursday 5th December

The weather forecast was a bit iffy today so we decided on a shortish circular walk through the forest. Having parked the car and got 100 yards up the track the ranger came running after us and called us back.

I assumed we were supposed to pay for parking and had not seen the signs but no he wanted to warn us that the path was very dangerous. Being elderly English adventurers we took no heed of his warning and off we went. The biggest risk we took was catching pneumonia as we suffered four serious downpours. Each only lasted five minutes but the trees were then saturated and sprinkled us with water between each downpour. The walk was quite good (1500 feet climb 3 miles, nice view then 1500 feet down and another 3 miles) by which time we were soaked through.
This forest had lots of chestnut trees, hence the chestnuts in Gills photo at the top of the page.

In the afternoon, once we had changed into dry clothes, we walked down to ‘our’ beach and watched the huge waves crashing against the rocks.

On the first night at San Andrés we were a bit disappointed with the restaurant we picked, last night we tried a different one, it was excellent so we have booked for tonight and tomorrow.
