The Kennet & Avon Canal - 2022

free website templates
To maintain our holiday every month regime we have decided to knock another destination off our "holidays to do" list by renting a boat on the Kennet and Avon Canal.  The canal connects Bristol via the Avon to the Thames at Reading via the Kennet but as we only have a week we have to limit our ambitions.
We pick up the boat in Bradford upon Avon and the plan is to head west to Bath which we should reach quite quickly, spend a day bathing, eating and having the odd glass of wine and then sail east to Devizes.  We will probably stop just short of the town as there is a flight of 29 locks which is a bit much for us old folks to manage, especially as we would have to turn round and do the 29 again on the way back.
Fingers crossed it does not rain, a full report follows on the next few pages.

We have extended our holiday by a week so will now do the 29 locks up and down again!
