Glasgow

Now we are retired we have a list on the kitchen wall of places we would like to visit. They range from towns and cities in England to Outer Mongolia.  The list tends to get longer but as Gills birthday was coming up John decided to knock off one of the entries as a surprise holiday so here we are in Glasgow.

We have never been before other than passing through to somewhere else, one big attraction is the Burrell Collection. Having booked the train and somewhere to stay John looked up opening times and guess what - The Burrell Collection is closed until next March!
No matter there is still plenty to do, hopefully enough to keep us busy for the week.
We are staying in a nice modern apartment on the bank of the Clyde (although we can't see the river) which we booked via Air BnB, this is a first for us, early adopters we are not.

Saturday

Today we visited the Lighthouse.  Not a navigational aid for shipping on the Clyde but a museum dedicated to architecture, design and the work of Rennie Mackintosh.

Sunday

Glasgow Science Museum

Monday

The Kelvingrove Museum, imagine the British Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Tate all in the same building!

Tuesday

Where is a good place to take a lady on her birthday?

Wednesday

A transport of delight and no Mackintosh

More Mackintosh

So what did we think of Glasgow?
